I would like to insert video and graphics stored on a shared drive (on our network) in my Storyline 360 file. Do I have to download the video and graphics onto a local drive first? Or, can I insert them directly from the share drive?
I would recommend downloading and then inserting into a local Storyline file. Working from a network/shared drive with your .story file or other linked items is known to cause some odd behavior.
Thank you for your comments...it's greatly appreciated. I did notice buggy behavior and suspected that this was the reason. I've done as you suggested and downloaded all files to my c drive this has resolved them! So thank you. We are trying to manage the space on our local drives by using the network. If we used an external hard drive to house these large files, would that work or would it also result in problems?

I have done both, using Insert>Video>Insert From File.

Hi Christine,
I typically recommend working locally with your software and all files, which would include your videos, to prevent file corruption.
Just wanted to mention that as you're considering your options.

Eek, glad you reached out when you noticed some buggy behavior Christine. That's precisely why we recommend not doing so.
I know some users have mentioned using set-ups as you're mentioning with no issue, but I work off my C: Drive as recommended.
If you need to move completed files around for space, you can follow this workflow, but be sure to download locally when needed.
