Inserting video - options

Sep 13, 2018

Hello,

I'm hoping to get some advice.  I have a 30-minute webinar that the client wants shown in the LMS with some some info slides to start. The webinar was originally recorded in Zoom meetings, and I've done some minor edits in Camtasia.  All day I've been trying to reduce the final file size, and the smallest I've gotten it to is 47,089 kb. (and every time I try to make it smaller it actually gets bigger. Another discussion for another board I'm sure...)

After inserting and publishing it in Storyline 360 the video doesn't first show after - there's a LONG delay say 10-15 minutes and finally, it starts playing.

So an option is to host it somewhere and link the URL in Storyline, but the video is too long for YouTube (or a least the message I got in Camtasia). The video has to remain private because of proprietary information.

Does anyone have suggestions? I'm new to inserting videos into Storyline projects and not sure what to do next.

Thank you so much.

Hi Kely,

Have you tried separating the 30-minute video into shorter segments? Then, you could insert one segment per slide. This would also help learners who don't want to view the entire video in one sitting, since the video will start over from the beginning when the learner resumes the course.

Otherwise, feel free to share the video file with our Support Engineers here. Hopefully they can work some magic and help you reduce the file size a bit more. ✨
