Installation - PowerPoint

Jan 23, 2014

Hey all,

I've installed a trial version of AS to see if it's suitable for the company I work for. I'm trying it out now - I seem to remember some option during installation for PowerPoint - I have a feeling I chose not to! I'm not going through the tutorials and have come to the section about intalling a powerpoint but I don't have the option. Nor do I have the option (enabled\disabled or otherwise) in the add-ons of PowerPoint.

Any ideas? Do I need to reinstall AS?

Thanks,

Jenny

Sorry, I haven't made myself clear. I do indeed have PowerPoint on my machine. I also have Articulate - I'd like to import a ppt presentation into my storyline. In the tutorial, it says, 'click on to Install then click Powerpoint' - when I look at install in the Articulate version I'm using, I can't see PowerPoint.

Hope that makes sense and thanks very much for getting back to me.

Hi Jenny and welcome to the community!

Sorry for stepping in here - I just want to confirm something. Are you using Articulate Storyline or Studio?

Storyline works as a standalone development program, but Studio works within PowerPoint.  The reason I think you may be using PowerPoint is because you mentioned addons. The only time you need to be concerned with addons is if you're working with Presenter in PowerPoint.

If you're not working with Studio, but in fact Storyline, are you trying to follow these steps?

Also, what version of PowerPoint do you have installed on the machine?

It may help to make sure that your Storyline project and PowerPoint projects are both on your local hard drive:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).
