Internet Explorer not allowing interaction with Play Pause button or Seekbar

Feb 20, 2020

To all it may concern,

As of Feb. 18th, 2020, I have noticed a few of my published storyline files are no longer allowing a user to click the Play/Pause button or click on the Seekbar when viewed through Internet Explorer. The Forward and Back buttons are not affected by this problem as they are working fine as are the Resources and Menu options on the top of the player. It has been hit and miss as not every project I have published as been affected.  The projects play perfectly fine through Google Chrome.

I did confirm and double check that my seekbar options are on "Allow user to drag seekbar" and I do not have any hot spots or anything covering. All of my publishing settings are correct and there has been no change on how I am outputting my files. Again, not every project is "locked up" when played on Internet Explorer but it has been noticeable a few times this week.

Our PC have the latest update installed as of Feb 19th running Articulate 360 version 1.37.21453.0. Even with the new update, a couple projects rendered out on Feb 20th have notable interaction issues with the play pause button and seekbar when played on Internet Explorer.

Has anyone else noticed this error? Any input would be appreciated.

Hi there!

You're right, this is a bug we've seen in Update 36 where the Play/Pause button and scrubbing the seekbar isn’t working in Internet Explorer 11 if your previous slide does have seekbar disabled.

We are currently tracking customer impact and adding it to our active report! I've added your comments to the report so that we can notify you when we have the fix.

Our current workaround is to either use another browser or enable the seekbar on all slides.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Good news, we released Update 38 (Build 3.38.21779.0) for Storyline 360 today!

I'm happy to announce that included in Update 38 (Build 3.38.21779.0) is a fix for a recent bug where toggling the Play/Pause button and scrubbing the seekbar wasn't working in Internet Explorer if your previous slide does have seekbar disabled.

Make sure to update your Articulate 360 Desktop app to take advantage of the recent bug fixes and new features!

Hi Jessie,

Thanks for contacting us to let us know what you're running into.

What version of Storyline are you using?

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
