invalid answer in drag and drop question

Apr 10, 2018

Hello,

I did a drag and drop question with 17 pictures to put in labels.

And the end I had and invalid answer and I didn't understand why.

Could you please help me ?

Here is the Storyline file and the screenshot of the right answer.

Thanks a lot for your help and your feedbacks.

Regards.

When you drop them all on the correct spot, you do not get a "Correct Answer" because of this trigger:

deplac 8 never has its state changed to Drop Correct.

You don't get an "Incorrect Answer" no matter what you do, because there is no provision to change any drag picture to "Drop Incorrect" state.

Normally, what I do with this sort of interaction is to set the initial state of the Incorrect button to "Selected". Or you could set all the pictures to an initial state of "Drop Incorrect".

Hello Walt,

Thank you for your quick answer. I modified the parameter of the deplace 8... and did again the test but I have still a bug with the answer after submitting : you must complete the question before submitting...

I had put at the end of the list of trigger the parameters "Submit intercation Pick One 1... when the user clicks the submit button"

I didn't really understand what you try to explain to me with the state incorrect to selected because I chose Change state of incorrect to Selected when the user clicks the submit button  if ... What do you mean by "because there is no provision to change any drag ..."

English is not my mother tong -;)

It doesn't work because this trigger is also incorrect:

I didn't notice it the first time.

Change this, and it will function if the answer is correct.

It does not function if the answer is incorrect, because neither of these objects is in a selected state:

, so if "Correct" is not changed to selected state, there is no answer chosen.

This trigger (call it the "Incorrect Trigger") is supposed to change the state of "Incorrect" to selected:

but it does not because none of the pictures has a "Dropped Incorrect" state.

Because this is a "Pick One" interaction instead off a "Drag and Drop" interaction, the objects can be dropped only in the correct spot, so they can never have a "Dropped Incorrect" state.

The easiest way to fix this is to set the initial state of the "Incorrect" Button to "Selected". That way, no matter what you do, the programs thinks there is an answer chosen. It will always be incorrect, unless all the pictures have been dropped correctly and changed their state to "Drop Correct". If you do that, you don't even need the "Incorrect Trigger".
