Invalid Answer message interrupts audio

Apr 02, 2018

I have run across a strange problem with the "Invalid Answer" message in Articulate 360. In my test, I have my voice over on a separate layer for each question. This method has always worked fine for me, until I noticed a problem today. When the user clicks "Submit" before answering the question, the "Invalid Answer" error displays. This stops the audio. I also include a button for users to replay the audio if they need it. This button simply shows the layer with the audio on it. However, after the "Invalid Answer" message appears, the button doesn't immediately work. The layer is set to "hide slide layer when timeline completes". After some time passes, the audio button works again, leading me to believe that the layer is still playing, and eventually closing, but silently.

I have made up a test project showcasing the issue. In the meantime, I can mostly work around the issue by triggering the audio another way. However, long term I would like to be able to use this method. On complicated questions, we use this method to allow users who have difficulty reading to listen to various parts of a question. We keep each audio file on a different layer, so that the audio does not overlap when triggered to play. It would get very time consuming to have to trigger each button to stop several other voice overs before playing the correct one, if you see what I mean.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Rena. Good news! We fixed the issue you reported where audio from other layers was playing after closing the invalid answer prompt.

Install the latest Storyline 360 update to take advantage of all the recent features and fixes. Here's how.

If the problem happens again, please record a Peek 360 screencast for me, and I'll be happy to help!
