IOS8/Storyline 1 (Scorm 1.2)

Feb 04, 2015

Hello! Experiencing issues with IOS8 and Storyline 1.

I have a number of eLearnings that were developed using Storyline 1 and uploaded to LMS (Scorm 1.2).  They will open in IOS8 but are all over the board with how they are playing/performing.

Issues that I am seeing (but not limited to),

  • Next button is not working, will not advance.
  • Menu not working (again will not advance).
  • Audio is spotty.

(Files were developed in Storyline 1 expanding timeframe of original version to release of Storyline 2)

Anyone experiencing the same? Solution?

Thanks! Pam

Hi Pam,

What update of Storyline 1 are you using?

I know that iOS8 had a few issues we had to deal with -

So if you're using Update 7 to publish these (or the latest Update 8) and still running into issues, we'd also want to see if you tested at a site such as SCORM Cloud, an industry standard for testing SCORM content. If the course continues to behave oddly there, can you share a copy of the .story file for us to look at? If it all works as expected there - please share those results with your LMS team.

Hi Pamela,

You'll need to republish them using the latest update of Storyline (Update 7 dealt with iOS 8, but we're now on Update 8 which dealt with an issue in the latest Flash player 16 update) if your users will be accessing the course through iOS8.

Also, just an FYI when you reply via email your signature is included so you're welcome to edit your post and remove that information if you choose.

Thanks Ashley! Any additional insight you can provide would be helpful as I start to scope a republish of all of our projects.

Example, some files that were produced in an earlier Storyline 1 version (earlier then version 7 or 8) seem to be playing fine.

Also, for future reference - do you have any recommendations of republishing previously produced as new versions are released?

Hi Pamela,

I can't say specifically why these courses would be working vs. others - but I'd look at republishing them all just to be sure that they don't stop working at a future date.

Unless it's an issue such as this one where the update to iOS8 caused issues with how some elements of the course works, you wouldn't need to republish with every update/version.
