IOS8 video issue?

Sep 25, 2014

I've been using Storyline2 and found that the video compression and HTML5 stability was greatly improved over S1.  Then I recently download IOS8 (ipad2) and now whenever there's a video clip in my course it just hangs up and doesn't run like it did prior to the update.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Mindy and CK1,

You may find that embedded videos don't play as expected in Articulate Storyline 1 or 2 courses when you view the HTML5 output in iOS 8.

We're investigating this issue now. In the meantime, you can often get a video to play just by tapping the video placeholder. If it doesn't play when you tap the placeholder, or if you don't see the placeholder, refresh the page, and it'll work.

FYI, I just updated to IOS8,02 and video will still not play in a Storyline course.  The screen just freezes whenever video appears and there isn't a placeholder video to tap as you mentioned (not that doing that would be acceptable anyway)...it just shows the loading animation.

It's too bad because video and HTML5 was working better than ever in Storyline2 in IOS7 prior to the IOS update.  Hopefully this can be resolved very soon and is at the top of the 'fix it' list.

Hi CK,

Have you seen the other documented article here about videos in iOS8? That other one was specific to Storyline 1 - and I didn't notice that when I first shared it.

If you're still having difficulty with videos, that were playing in iOS7 and are now not playing in iOS 8 - are you able to share a sample with us?
