iPad HTML course misbehaving

Mar 04, 2013

Hello,

I was wondering if someone knew of the pitfalls to avoid when publishing for HTML5, particularly on an iPad. When I reach the view mode, step-by-step slides on my course in Safari on iPad, I can get as far as the first slide then everything freezes. All my triggers are set up to go to the next scene automatically/when the timeline ends. Some text also doesn't appear on other slides where shapes with text on them are animated. According to this link http://www.articulate.com/support/kb_article.php?product=st1&id=1568gg1ayot2 animations should be ok in Mobile...

Could someone help?

Thanks,

Liam

Hi Liam,

First, make sure you have Private Browsing disabled in Safari:

HTML5 output doesn't load correctly in Safari with Private Browsing enabled

Second, do you have any media on the slides that are set to advance automatically? If so, this may be one of the issues.

Third, what version of Storyline are you using? If you haven't already, you may want to make sure you're using the most recent update. You can find this information by clicking on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline". If you're not currently running version 2 (1212.1412), please download and install Update 2 from the link below:

Articulate > Download Articulate Storyline Update 2

After updating, try re-publishing your course and upload it to your web server or LMS. Then, test it and see if there's any improvement when viewing the course on your iPad.

If the issue continues, we'd be happy to take a look at the files and see what's happening. You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Articulate Support - Submit a Support Case

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks!

Hi Liam,

I was able to find your support case (#00322166 for my reference) this morning. I see that Vira has taken a look at the file and was able to replicate the issue. Looks like she also sent a few resources and suggestions, as well.

I just wanted to check in with you to make sure you received her message. If not, please be sure to check your email's spam folders or filters. You may also want to add support@articulate.com to your safe senders list. If you're still not able to find the message, just let me know. I'd be happy to send it to you again.

Thanks Liam!
