iPad Video Viewing Issue

Nov 13, 2013

I have a class that has a 15 second or less videos (mp4). I have the settings to play automatically without any video controls visible. When I publish and view on a PC or tablet everything works perfectly. On the iPad I get large play buttons in the middle of the video and if I click them to play it crashes the class. If I leave it some of the video will start to play and then it will either show a black border, black or red background and then finish with the play button in the middle of the video.

I have used videos a lot in Storyline and recently there has been these problems. Is there something that I can do to get this working on the iPad again?

The iPad version I am using is 7.0.3

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good Afternoon, Stephanie.

The iPad is an amazing device that can deliver wonderfully rich, multimedia-based e-learning. However, the iPad's mobile Safari browser currently has inherent limitations that impact how multimedia operates as well as the overall performance of HTML5 content.

Gerry Wasiluk has put together an excellent set of best practices here for authoring video content for iPad.  I'd recommend implementing his suggestions to see if it improves your video experience.

Good luck with your project!
