We want to ensure the proper software is installed on our learner's PCs to support viewing the Storyline lessons we create. Are all of the animations supported with HTML 5 or is Flash a requirement?
Here's a comparison chart for Storyline 2 output support. According to the chart, it does appear that all animations are supported in both HTML5 and Flash outputs.
Hope that's helpful, let me know if you have further questions! :)
Thanks Ali! That was very helpful.
Looks like most is supported by HTML 5. I'll have to
determine what "Engage Interactions" are to be certain
though. I will search for that now.
Glad that was helpful, Stephen! Engage interactions would be interactions created using the Articulate Engage '13 software (included in Studio '13) that are then imported into Storyline 2. If you don't use Engage, then you won't have to worry about this. Hope that helps clarify a little! :)
I have a Storyline 2 course that I am publishing as SCORM 1.2 and including HTML5 output. Some of my users who are completing this course on a desktop using IE or Chrome are having issues with the course opening in resume state that will not allow them to advance. The only interactions I have in this course are 2 buttons that trigger slide layers and check box. My question is: does Storyline 2 require flash for the slide layer interaction regardless of how I publish my course?
Not if you've included the HTML5 output and you're viewing it in a browser that supports it (which with Storyline 2 would not include IE). Are you uploading the content to your LMS or testing it locally? You may want to try uploading to SCORM Cloud which is a good testing option.
If you'd like, we'd also be happy to give it a test too. Can you share a copy of the .story file here with us?

Awesome! Yes. Now it is crystal clear. Thanks Ali!
Great point, Matthew! Definitely a good thing to keep in mind and not something that popped into my mind off-hand.
