I have been trying to add animations to some feedback layers I have created for question slides I have. I am trying to add the animations to the Feedback Master so I don't have to add animations individually to each slide. Does anyone know if animations work in the Feedback Master, and if so how, I have tried but I can't get it working?
Hi Steve. Yes, you can add animations to feedback masters. If it's not working you might want to go to the feedback layer, right-click and reset the slide or change the feedback master layout to another then back again to the one you want.
I was just trying some of your suggestions, and I realize I do have one animation working, the shape, or box my feedback is on top of animates, but the rest of the text I have, along with a button, are already on the slide and do not animate.
I think I'm missing something, but I'm not getting the to work in SL2 either. In SL 1, if I animate the text for the Correct and Incorrect feedback layers (custom or not), and apply those layers to the quiz, the text animates in. However, this isn't working for me in SL 2. I tried using your file, Steve, and a new file.
It seems that animations applied to shapes and regular text come across but animations applied to text placeholders do not. I had to manually add the animation to the text placeholder at the slide/layer level. I tried this in SL1 and saw the same behavior. I would suggest letting the folks at Articulate know. Logically you if SL lets you animate, you should see the expected animation results. If you the product doesn't allow you to animate placeholder text, then it should dim the animation option when selecting placeholder text to let you know its not available.
I just double-checked my previous response. See attached. I've animate the text placeholder for the Correct and Incorrect Feedback layers in SL1, applied those layers to two quiz questions, and the animation is working. Or, I'm misunderstanding!
Hey Rebecca. I could see with your file in SL1 that the placeholder animations are working. When I tried it on a new file I could get a text box to animate but not the placeholder text. Weird. Meanwhile back in SL2 the placeholder text boxes that were animating in SL1 are definitely not animating in SL2, but regular text boxes and shapes do. So this seems like a bug to me.
Update: Heard back from Articulate. They said they were able to reproduce the issue in SL and reported it to the QA team for review. No time frame for when or if it will be addressed. Currently need to implement the animations directly on the correct/incorrect layers - not in the Feedback Master.
It seems that this issue has not been resolved with the recent SL2 update (Update 4). I can confirm that feedback master animations applied to text boxes do not carry over when applied to slides in SL2. The only workaround is manually applying the animations on each slide. However, objects and shapes animate properly from feedback masters.
I was very happy to see that this has been resolved (animations on placeholders in the layout master now function at the slide level), but I am still having a little trouble with placeholders.... they seem to automatically move to the beginning of the timeline at the slide level, no matter where I have them on the timeline in the layout master.
For example, I have a text placeholder animating in after 1 second in the layout master. When I apply this layout to a slide, the text placeholder animates on the slide, but at the beginning of the timeline (at 0 seconds), rather than after 1 second.
Anyone have any good ideas? I have several slide types where items animate in, then off, then new things come on. The functionality to do this in masters seems to be there (you can set placeholders at a specific point on the master timeline just like any other object)....
Thanks for reaching out here and I'm able to see the same behavior in that the timing of when the object will appear does not carry over to the slide. You are able to adjust the timing of the element on the slide itself to set it to appear at 1 second in, so you'll want to utilize that in the meantime. I will reach out to our QA team to share the additional behavior here in regards to the timeline not carrying over but I cannot offer a time frame in regards to when I'll hear back, so please continue to utilize this workaround.

Can you attach a sample of this so I can take a quick look?
Sure, thanks for taking a look! The green and red feedback boxes are the ones I'm working on.

Yep, guess I'll report it just in case.

Hello Pano!
This issue has been addressed, however it has not been in an update yet. When there is information available, I will post here.
Thanks for the update Emily!
No problem Pano,
hopefully we will have an update soon.
