A general feedback: In today's software age the more open a platform is, the easier it makes users to build their functionality- the faster it will be adopted as a standard.
I strongly suggest that SL is opened up more to users to make it a better experience to create courses.
Exam timer is just one example, but there are many other such internal variables that should be opened up for dynamic access.
I certainly understand, and I went ahead and submitted this as a feature request on your behalf as those go to our product development team. You'll likely receive the confirmation email shortly. In the future, please feel free to share your thoughts here.

Hi Ron,
You can't modify the built in timer this way, but here are some discussions and examples that may help you customize and create your own:
Here's How Easy It Is to Add a Time Limit to Your Storyline Quiz
storyline slide timer - E-Learning Heroes
Timer or count down that controls feedback? - E-Learning Heroes
Timer to use in Storyline - E-Learning Heroes - Articulate
Free Storyline file: pre-built, user-defined timer - E-Learning Heroes (not quite the same - but still pretty cool)
Ok thanks. i will check them out.

Just my 2 cents.
