Change state of Next button to hidden when timeline starts on the xx slide
Change state of Next button to normal when (this is where you add your conditions) - could be state change of elements on the screen or by using variables.
Hard to give more detailed advice till you let us know what conditions you have...feel free to upload your .story file if you need more help
Thanks for the suggestions Wendy. However I was referring to the preset Next and Previous buttons. I don't think there is any way to change their behaviours. If anyone knows of any way to change the preset behaviours of Next and previous please let me know.
If by behaviour, you mean what they do when you click on the built-in Previous and Next buttons, each of them has a trigger on each slide and you can change it like any other trigger.
If you mean how to hide them until a preset condition is met, Wendy's advice will work, and so will Leslie's.

Hi Graham
yes it is. Are you using SL1 or SL2.
Sample triggers:
Change state of Next button to hidden when timeline starts on the xx slide
Change state of Next button to normal when (this is where you add your conditions) - could be state change of elements on the screen or by using variables.

Here is a SL2 tutorial that might help you

Sorry not sure I understand what you mean by pre-set behaviours
Hi Graham!
Here's how to temporarily disable or hide player navigation buttons until learners have finished interacting with a slide. Not sure if that may be what you are looking for.
If by behaviour, you mean what they do when you click on the built-in Previous and Next buttons, each of them has a trigger on each slide and you can change it like any other trigger.
