Is there a way to automate results to email or sendmail

Nov 23, 2015

Hi there, getting lots done today but keep falling down on returning the results page to me for stats. There does seem to be a lot of threads on here saying it can't be done, but to look at javascript. SO question is do any of you fine folk have a work around to get the results I have collected in variables off on email?

I used a great template (https://community.articulate.com/discussions/building-better-courses/tutorial-create-a-dynamic-workbook?page=2#reply-316688) that displays the results as a print.html page and it works great (HUGE THANKS TO THE AUTHOR), but I'd like the user to print their results and also send them to me to get stats from. Can this ever be done? Thanks in advance!!

Hi, Chris -- I just wanted to stop in to note for others who may not be aware, Articulate Storyline does not include an emails results feature for the following reason:

We want every feature in our software to work well. Unfortunately, there’s no way to email quiz results easily, accurately, and consistently. For example, if you use Gmail or your computer’s security settings are high, you can’t email results. Also, you run the risk of learners tampering with results since they can access the email before it’s sent. Given these limitations, we decided not to include the email results feature in new products.

That having been said, I wanted to share this thread that may be helpful to you, but ultimately, I will need to defer to our JS gurus in the community to assist you further with modifications to your published output. You may also want to check out the JS Best Practices Sheet if you have yet to do so. :)

Hi Christie - I'd love to make this work, I have a LMS but I want the client to get an update on what results were filled in on a likert scale I created in one of the sessions. The software is perfect other than this massive flaw - especially in a world where data like this is expected so much from clients. Would it be something you can help with for a future build or indeed a workaroud for this one?

Hi, Chris --

Thank you so much for your response here! Your position is understood, however, we are not able to announce product roadmaps or release dates for new products/features or updates. There are a few other options you have to stay up to date! I'd suggest that you subscribe to the Word of Mouth Blog for updates on Articulate products and also follow us on Facebook or Twitter.

And may I ask if you were able to take a look at the link I'd shared previously for possibly considering the use of JavaScript? My apologies, but I do not have an alternative suggestion to offer at this time. You are also encouraged to share your thoughts with our Product Development team using this form
