I'm trying out Storyline now and was wondering if all the text in the text boxes can be exported to a file and then re-imported so that it populates its original locations?
This is possible in Captivate and very useful for localization and editing purposes.
Yes, there is a Translation menu item that allows you to export text to a WORD document and re-import text after translation. You can also localize the text lables on player controls (e.g. Next, Previous).
Thanks Michael, I should have searched before posting as just saw that Luke posted a related question in August, but neither in your reply nor in his thread is there an indicator where this menu is.
I'd really appreciate a screen capture that shows where this menu item is, as I've spent over 5 minutes now going over all the ribbons and couldn't find it.

So, I now exported my trial project (one slide..) which includes text in Hebrew. Opened the Word file, which is a Word 93-97 doc file, in Word 2010 and translated some of the text. So far so good. Then I tried saving the file, but it crashed. Attempted this several times, but the same scenario in all cases. Am wondering if there are some rules of thumb to abide to that will ensure a smooth process?
For example, should I save the export file first as a Word 2010 docx?
Confirming - I was able to export/export most of the text content for localization, or translation purposes.Follow-up question - Not all text was exported. Specifically "Feedback Master" slide content and other boilerplate text was not exported. Any assistance in how to include exporting boilerplate content for translation would be much appreciated.Thanks.
@Donna, I have Office 2010 installed and when I export from Storyline, it automatically saves the output as .docx. That works fine for me and as many times I have done this now, it never crashed on me.
@Thor, I'm not sure if this helps but the lnaguage for standard labels can be switeched by selecting a language under 'Text Labels' in the Player Properties dialog.
Hi Michael, for some reason when exporting it exports only to Word 93-97, and it opens in compatibility mode. There's no option in the drop-down list to choose Word 2010. I'll just note that after a few days of leaving it alone and returning to the project now, it works fine: both translating the text in the exported Word 93-97 doc file [no crashes today :-] and importing it back to the project.

Thanks for point this out. - I did discover the language settings in the Player Options yesterday.
Additionally, if your language is not listed, you can export the settings in XML format, and potentially add a new language to your options.
