Issue with articulate player on iPad

Jun 28, 2018

Hi,

does anyone have any issues viewing courses on an iPad? Every course that we have developed and tested on iPad doesn't position correctly when viewing in landscape mode. For some reason, the player moves over to the right hand side and cuts off the screen. This only happens on an iPad device and not if you are testing in an iPad environment on a browsers dev tools. It also works fine on iPhones, Android phones, and Android tablets.

We have been in contact with Uncanny Owl about this issue and even they can't rectify this issue as their code is getting overwritten by the storyline file.

If anyone has any suggestions at all please do let me know as we can't progress any further for iPad devices.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,

Thanks for sharing that image here and the video so we could see it happening. It looks like your site/LMS is launching the Storyline course in a pop-up or a new frame? It also looks like you may be using the modern player, have you seen the same thing in Storyline using the classic player?

One last question, you mentioned this was only on iPads, but what happens on an iPhone? Also can you let me know the iOS versions you're seeing this in?

Hi, Adam -- thanks so much for working through this with Chino in your case. I see the recent information you shared with him, and you should hear back soon.

Hello, David -- really sorry for the trouble you're seeing! You mentioned that you contacted support, but I'm not seeing a case number for you by searching your email address. Do you have that case number handy? If you haven't had a chance to open a case yet, you can share one of your troublesome files with us right here.

Hello Alasdair and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

I was able to take a look at the case that Adam worked on with our team and it looks like a bug report was filed specific to viewing HTML5 content and changing from landscape to portrait view in mobile Chrome and the content becoming off-center.

Is that what you are experiencing as well?

Hi Leslie

Thanks for your response!

Ah no, in that case, I don't believe it is the same issue as I am experiencing. Our courses only have a landscape view, so it's probably not the same reason for the faulty displaying of the modules. It just sounded so similar with the module not showing on the screen center (mine are also shifted to the right).

We also are using Safari Browser on the iPads, not Chrome, so that's probably another difference. (my courses actually display correctly on Android tablets using chrome)

Or are there any general issues you have experienced with the modern player and iPads that might point me in the right direction?

We are having the same problem....again. We were able to correct it a few months ago with the help of Articulate, but now it is happening again.

Course is cut off on the right side so there is no way to advance.

Also, the module number (in white) is displayed even though the title is not checked.

This number doesn't show when viewed on desktop.

Hello Kathy and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

I see that this is your first post in ELH and I was unable to track down a support case for you, but I know you mentioned we helped you previously.

Do you know what version of Storyline you're using? You can check by going to Help > About Articulate Storyline

I mentioned a fix above, so I'm curious if that's the issue you are running into or if it's another.

I'm not seeing a module number in your images, so I'm not sure what you are referring to there.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
