Issue with Storyline 2 Character Bundles

Hi, I am building a course in Storyline 2 and am finding that the characters are out of alignment - meaning their heads are not attached to their bodies but off to the left of their shoulders. When I preview the slide one character is like this, the rest aren't - so I decided to delete him and add him again but when I went to character tools to choose another character, they are all weird, heads not attached - I have attached a file to show you what I mean.
Anyone know what I can do to fix this? Should I delete the characters and add them again? If so, how!!!
Thanks for any help...
Jane

Hi Jane,
Unfortunately I can only commiserate and not solve. I had the same problem last week. It only showed up in the client's LMS. It never reared its "ugly head" in the other previews or publishing tests conducted. When is your issue appearing?
Cheers, Julie
Thanks Julie! I am building the course so this is showing when I preview and when I try to add another character, hopefully someone will have the fix...
Hi Jane and Julie,
You'll want to make sure you're using the DPI setting of 96 as detailed here.
Thanks Ashley. My computer is set at 96 DPI and I never experienced the problem. I don't know what the client's settings were. So are you saying the publishing computer probably wasn't set at 96 dpi or does any computer viewing the published course need to be set at 96 dpi. Please clarify.
Thanks Ashley, I adjusted the settings as outlined above, restarted my computer, deleted the character that was wonky and added him in again and it is fixed! Changing the setting also fixed the other distorted images I had! Thanks so much. Looking forward to your answer to Julies question above...
Hi Julie,
Correct - all the computers that are viewing the .story file would need to have that DPI Setting, and using another setting could cause unusual behavior even more so than just having decapitated characters.
The courses that view the published output don't need to use that DPI setting. They'll just want to make sure they're viewing it within one of the supported browsers here.
Thanks again Ashley, to confirm my learners don't have to have the DPI settings on their computers to watch the course in the LMS, just be using the supported browsers, correct?
Correct Jane - and feel free to let us know anything else.
Hello!
I am building a course in Storyline 2 and am experiencing the same issue. The illustrated characters are out of alignment and their heads are not attached to their bodies, and off to the left of their shoulders. This is not an issue with the Photographic characters.
I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled Character Bundle 1 in an attempt to resolve the problem, to no avail. As well, my computer is step to 96 DPI. I am running Storyline 2 on a MacBook Pro via Paralells 10 and Windows 8.
I also downloaded this template in an attempt to correct the problem. The static/non-walking character is affected and has a disembodied head. The walking character is functioning correctly. However when I attempt to choose and insert a second illustrated character, the error is still there.
Storyline 2: Walking Animation
Can you please advise how to correct this issue? It is exceptionally frustrating to not be able to use the Illustrated characters.
Hi Vend,
Disembodied characters are not fun - except around Halloween and even then a bit creepy. I'd love to help figure out what's happening and get those characters straight!
The DPI setting typically fixes it - so let's bear with me if we start at the beginning!
Let me know if that changes anything. If not, we'll want to get one of our Support Engineers to look at all your settings!
Hello Ashley,
Thank you so much for the prompt and detailed response! After running through all the steps above, including uninstalling and reinstalling the software twice, it seems to have finally worked. No more disembodied/nearly-headless characters!
At least until October when you need them for your haunted house course? 😉
Glad things are back to normal and feel free to let us know if you need anything else. Happy Friday!
