Issue with Storyline 2 Character Bundles

Aug 19, 2015

Hi, I am building a course in Storyline 2 and am finding that the characters are out of alignment - meaning their heads are not attached to their bodies but off to the left of their shoulders. When I preview the slide one character is like this, the rest aren't - so I decided to delete him and add him again but when I went to character tools to choose another character, they are all weird, heads not attached - I have attached a file to show you what I mean.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this? Should I delete the characters and add them again? If so, how!!!

Thanks for any help...

Hi Julie,

Correct - all the computers that are viewing the .story file would need to have that DPI Setting, and using another setting could cause unusual behavior even more so than just having decapitated characters.

The courses that view the published output don't need to use that DPI setting. They'll just want to make sure they're viewing it within one of the supported browsers here.

Hello!

I am building a course in Storyline 2 and am experiencing the same issue.  The illustrated characters are out of alignment and their heads are not attached to their bodies, and off to the left of their shoulders.  This is not an issue with the Photographic characters.

I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled Character Bundle 1 in an attempt to resolve the problem, to no avail.  As well, my computer is step to 96 DPI.  I am running Storyline 2 on a MacBook Pro via Paralells 10 and Windows 8.

I also downloaded this template in an attempt to correct the problem.  The static/non-walking character is affected and has a disembodied head.  The walking character is functioning correctly.  However when I attempt to choose and insert a second illustrated character, the error is still there.  Storyline 2: Walking Animation

Can you please advise how to correct this issue?  It is exceptionally frustrating to not be able to use the Illustrated characters.

Hi Vend,

Disembodied characters are not fun - except around Halloween and even then a bit creepy.  I'd love to help figure out what's happening and get those characters straight!

The DPI setting typically fixes it - so let's bear with me if we start at the beginning!

  • Have you review the information here on working with Storyline in a Mac environment?  The Retina display and DPI will be two different settings to take a look at there.
  • After modifying all those settings did you reboot your entire Window's system?
  • Have you done a repair of Storyline?

Let me know if that changes anything. If not, we'll want to get one of our Support Engineers to look at all your settings!
