Issue with triggers not working

Jun 22, 2018

I'm sure this is user error, and I need your help to find out why this is happening.  I thought I set up the triggers correctly to lock out the layer audio from playing while the initial audio plays, but it's not working.  The states of all the elements are all set to disabled, and I placed a trigger to change the state of the first tab to normal when the media stops (the other tabs are triggered to normal when the previous tab is visited), but when the slide opens you can still click on each tab and the audio for the tab plays while the opening audio is still going.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong.  Any assistance would be welcome; deadline is Sunday.  Using the Serenity template.

  • There's nothing that stops the base layer audio when you click on a layer.
  • You can set the layer properties to pause the base layer which would stop the audio. But resume it if they go back to the base layer. Or you can add a trigger to pause/stop media when the user clicks the button.
  • I'd just put a hotspot over the buttons so you can't click until the audio is complete. This way they'd never hear both tracks and they can't skip over the audio info.
  • You could also, have the buttons appear after audio completes.
  • Instead of using groups for the buttons, I'd put all of that info into the button state. This way you only have to trigger one object and not multiple.

Yeah, the templates are set up a certain way to make it easy to see what's there. Most people wouldn't think of editing the states when they start.

Re hotspot: drop a hotspot on top of the buttons. Insert>hotspot. On the timeline, set it to disappear when the audio ends.

Grouped objects can have a trigger, but since it's a group of individual objects they won't make all of the objects visited since you're really not visiting the object you're just adding a trigger to the group.
