Ok I am trying to create a program where someone goes through a step by step and then has to complete the tasks in a virtual environment. I am fine with them clicking but am having trouble with the data entry requirements triggering the change. I am posting some example slides. I am open to suggestions on a better way if you have one. The first slide is the step by step instructions then the second slide is part of the task.
I want someone to enter test in a filed so for example Sample entered into the last name field will trigger the next layer telling them to populate the sufx field when the suffix field is populated with a 2 then trigger the first name field
Well I am still not sure but what I understand is that if user enters text in first field he should be moved to second layer and then so on. If I am getting it correct then you can achieve this by adding trigger to show layer when control loses focus of text entry. See the file attached.
yeah so your test slide has the right idea I just need the user to be forced to enter the correct value to move on so in the last name field they must type sample. I dont want them to have to move off of the field to move on
The event triggers for text entry are based on the field losing focus so they will have to click off it, you could set up the tab order to tab between fields but you cannot activate a layer based on entering text if you do not click outside the field.
Ok now I get you, you don't need layers to achieve that, changing state of an object when mouse hovers over text entry would work fine. See file attached.
That can be achieved by adding condition to the trigger of change of state of box which indicates to type a certain word or alphabets. See the example attached.

Anyone have success with data entry fields triggering a layer?
Your question is unclear, you should mention what you want to achieve then may be someone will be able to help.

but that still doesnt require a precise set of characters to be entered to allow data entry in the next field
You would need them to click somewhere else and then check that the variable is not blank or use javascript to count the characters.

Thanks everyone
