Issue with Variables and If/Then logic
Aug 24, 2020
I'm new to storyline and am running into a problem with my if/then logic associated with variables on a certain page. If the variables on page 1.8 are not clicked, I want the user to go back to that page and click on the next variable for more information. Once all variables have been clicked, I want them to be able to move to slide 1.16 (I think that's the number). The variables if/then logic are not working back to slide 1.8 or to slide 1.16 so I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Kristen,
I only visited the Lose Weight slide, but I can help you.
The trigger to Jump to Slide 1.8 will work only on the first slide, after that, those values are no longer ALL false. You want it to return to the menu slide if even one of them is not visited (variable is false). So you need to change all the "and"s to ORs. If Diabetes is False OR Eating2 is False Or, etc.
The trigger to jump to slide 1.16 will never work, because there is no place that changes the variables to True. I suggest not changing them to true until the content finishes, which in this case would be when the timeline finishes: "Change Weight2 to true when the timeline ends on this slide" Be sure to move it up the list of trigger until it is on top, or it won't take place in time to be accurate for the other two triggers.
On slide 1.8 the button will not be disabled because as soon as the jump to slide 1.15 begins, the execution of all other triggers ends. move the state change trigger up above the jump trigger.
I also have a couple of design suggestions. On slide 1.15, do you want the learner to listen to the narration, or read the text? The one thing I can guarantee is that they will do one or the other, but it is not physically possible to do both. If the text is important, maybe it could show as a pop-up on 1.8 when the learner hovers over the Lose Weight object, then jump to 1.15 when they click.
Personally, I spent most of the time the narration was playing on slide 1.15 asking myself what does sitting in a chair with a dog have to do with losing weight. Maybe a picture of exercising might do more to support the message?
Thank you Walt! The presentation itself came from the Heart Association so
changing the pictures may not be approved but I agree and have already
emailed my contact to check.
Thanks for all the feedback - much appreciated!
