Issue with video seek bar

Oct 01, 2014

I have a video (MP4) embedded in Storyline 2. When a user views the video and decides to click around...say forward and back and then forward and back again...and then they start from the beginning...after about 30 seconds the video jumps to the next slide.

I could remove the video controls and that solves the issue...but I rather find out what's going on here.

I do have a trigger set to jump to the next slide when the media completes...I removed this trigger and had the same results.

Anyone seen this behavior before?

Thanks,

D

Hi Dave and welcome to Heroes!

Have you looked at your slide properties to see if it's set up to advance automatically or when the user clicks? It could be that the setting is overriding your trigger and bringing the user to the next slide based on when the overall timeline of the slide ends. It's also important to note that if you've included the video controls, it is no longer synced with the slide timeline and therefore your triggers may also not work as expected.

If you're still having difficulty after checking into those items, could you share the .story file with us so that we can take a look at the behavior?

Hi Ashley,

I found that indeed my slide properties were set to automatic when the user clicks. I changed them to:

- Slide Advances: By User

- When revisiting: Set to initial state

l also added a trigger on the slide to jump to the next slide when the media completes.

The videos are working properly now.

Thanks,

Dave
