Issues accessing storyline on a MAC computer
May 03, 2017
Hello,
I design and develop a host of e-learning modules for clinical skills NHS to be used and accessed by medical students from home. As a trust we host our modules on training tracker - an LMS which enables reporting of compliance. I have recently had a lot of emails from students stating they are unable to access the course. The training tracker system opens on the mac but when a student clicked to open the module they only see a blank screen (see image attached).
Can anyone help with this.
Is this a common problem and if so is there anything I can recommend to students that will enable them to access modules on their mac PC.
Hoping you can help.
Rachael

Hi there Rachael,
Sorry your students are running into this! You've come to the right place. 🙂
Let's test this course in SCORM Cloud. It's the industry standard for LMS testing, and that'll tell us whether the problem is related to the course or the LMS.
If you have a Mac and you'd like to test it yourself, you can create a free account in SCORM Cloud here.
If you'd rather me test it for you, I'd be happy to do that! Just attach your file here, and I'll do the rest.
Hello Alyssa,
Thanks for your response.
I have tested the module in the cloud and all appears to be working fine.
It works perfectly for most students but just a few respond with not been able to view he content.
Do you have any further suggestions?
Kind regards
Rachael
I have this problem sometimes(not often) when using Safari or Google Chrome on the Mac with files opened on an external server.
Whilst there is no problem when using firefox.
Hi Rachel,
If a student reaches out saying they're having trouble accessing the course on a Mac, double check that they're using a supported browser and that Flash is enabled. What version of Storyline did you use to build the course? I can recommend supported browsers based on that version.
I used storyline 1 I think before I upgraded to storyline 2. Could this be a reason for the problems?
Rachael
Storyline 1 shouldn't cause any issues on a Mac, as long as the students are using one of these supported browsers:
Thank you for your response I will forward your advice and suggestions to them
Many thanks
Rachael
You're welcome, Rachael. Let us know if you have other questions!
We have exactly the same problem - Mac users cannot see our courses published in storyline 1! They get the player window with a blank screen.
Hi Christine!
I can see that you’re still struggling with viewing a published course on a Mac since you reached out here and in this other discussion. I’d love to help. Can you take a look at the questions I asked in the other discussion? We can keep the conversation going over there!
