Hi all, when trying to run an html5 file on Android device (chrome 57), the sound is not working automatically but only when adding a button to enable the sound it works. I have tried to add a trigger saying "play media when timeline starts" with no luck. In addition, when clicking the progress bar the sound starts.
Thanks for chiming in! The link above works on my end in the latest version of Chrome on iOS 10.3.2 iPad and on Android 6 and 7. Do you not hear audio when you click that link?
Chrome and Safari are supported mobile browsers, but Firefox is not a supported mobile browser for Storyline 2 or Storyline 360.
Do you have a particular file that's giving you audio trouble? If so, I'd be happy to take a look!
No audio in 1st slide where it's written "You should hear audio on this slide" . Same in latest Chrome 58(I haven't checked) in Android 6 or 7. I have another Android phone having Chrome 50 and I can hear the voice. So definitely NO AUDIO issue with Chrome 58(not sure about 57) on iPAD and Android Mobile 6 and 7 Version.
It's not working on Safari too :(. Youtube videos are working. I checked so that to mitigate any sound issue. So iPAD and sound is working. IOS version is Version 10.3.2(14F89). Btw I'm having iPAD 4th generation Model MD522HN/A.
Maybe this will help you to replicate the issue. May be you are checking it on latest iPAD. Mine is 4th generation Model MD522HN/A
Also I an having Android 6 Mobile. Chrome 58 wasn't working. I uninstalled the Chrome update and it defaulted to factory one. Chrome 50. And on same mobile and android, it was working(Audio Coming). SO check it with Chrome 58 and if on iPAD, use the 4th generation iPAD model and lastest iOS version on it as given above
Thanks for letting me know you tested audio on YouTube--at least we know the audio is working there!
I'd like our Support Engineers to weigh in, so I've opened a case on your behalf (01077188). Keep an eye out for an email from Support@Articulate.com. You'll hear back shortly!
Thanks for your reply Alyssa. Just to add one more thing that I opened www.youtube.com on chrome 58 and safari and not the youtube app on iOS.
Also I have created SCORMs earlier and the earlier story_html5.html that were working(audio coming) in previous chrome version (not sure about chrome 56-57 but they were working in around 50-54 version and audio coming) also stopped rendering sound(No AUDIO) in Chrome 58. Basically I have observed that Chrome 58 , no sound is coming on any tablet/mobile but working perfectly on windows 10 desktop having chrome 58 version. I checked it with my brother's mobile having Android 7 with chrome 58 and there too sound wasn't coming. I was using your html5 link. In case if it helps you, so thought of letting you know my observations.
Just wanted to let you know that latest Chrome update version 58.0.3029.83 on Android 6 and 7 and Chrome update version 58.0.3029.113 on iOS 10.3.2 has solved the NO AUDIO issue.
Now Audio is hearable on all devices.
Also all old and new Storyline packages are working on iOS/IPAD and Android 6 and 7.
Thought of sharing it so other users who are facing problem have just to update Chrome.
Did you test out the same steps shared with Meadow before? Is it only Android and/or Apple that is causing you problems?
Hi Meadow,
So sorry this is slowing you down! We know the issue with audio not playing on Chrome for Android is causing huge headaches, and we're actively working on a fix. We'll let you know as soon as we have more information.
You also mentioned your Storyline 2 courses also aren't playing audio on older iPhone/iPad iOS. There are a couple of reasons this could be happening:
Are you on the most recent update of Storyline 2? We added support for iOS 9 in Update 7 for Storyline 2 to address this issue, and we're now on Update 11.
If you'd like me to test your Storyline 2 files, just attach them here, and I'll let you know what I find!
Did you see the notice that it is fix in the versions of Chrome as described here?

Hi Sanju,
Hm, that's really strange. Can you try the link in Safari on iPad iOS 10.3.2? Does the audio work there?
