issues with quiz function

Jun 13, 2014

I'd gotten a message that the storyline version that created the file wasn't the same as the file that created the project I was working on (not sure how that's possible everyone is working from the same version of storyline).

Anyway the quiz slides were acting up the feedback slides were overwriting the question even though the master file selected had the grey box on it. see image here https://citrix.sharefile.com/d/s37a128e9e9642389

Then I did a file save as and rebuild the quiz slides. Same issue and some of the feedback slides that did show the feedback box were coming up in random colors that weren't even on the master file (instead of green or red they were orange and brown). I tried several times to fix them by rebuilding the slides. I don't know what was causing the issue. Then when I republished the file again I the feedback message was transparent and the submit button disappeared. I had lots of issues with the file even after creating a new one and rebuilding the slides in question.

any suggestion on how to fix it I'm still getting orange and brown instead of red and green on the feedback slides (randomly) not all the slides are malfunctioning some of them are correctly displaying red and green. I wound up deleting the slide with the transparent box after trying unsuccessfully to fix the issue.

Please advise on how to help fix the issue.

Thank you

Fran

Hi Fran,

First, please make sure that you're working with a local project file when you modify or publish your project. If you're working on a network drive, or any other external storage, that might be causing the trouble.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Please make sure you're running the most recent version of Storyline. Articulate Storyline Update 5 includes bug fixes, performance improvements, and HTML5 output enhancements. Click here for details.

I would also recommend importing the original project file into a new, blank file. This should help with any corruption issues:

Importing from Another Storyline Project - E-Learning Heroes

If you still have trouble, try sharing your .STORY file here. We could take a look at what's happening with the project. Please keep in mind, however, that the maximum file size is 20MB for the forums.

Best,

Christine
