Issues with Web Object - navigating hyperlinked form
Feb 04, 2015
Hello,
This is my first post to the forum so I'm excited to see the response I get. I'm having an issue with a web object I'm placing in my presentation. The web object is linked to an online typing test on eSkill - a website we use to test typing ability. I have uploaded my course to SCORM cloud and the web object opens correctly. I enter my name and email address to take the test but when the test opens I'm unable to navigate the website to progress in the test. Has anyone had any issues like this before? I searched for similar presentations but didn't find anything.
Thanks!

Hi Brandon and welcome to the Community!
So, is the test itself in Storyline or within a website (e-skill)? Is the test itself embedded as a web object or is it opening in a new browser?
Hello Ashley,
The test is within the website. It is embedded as a web object and I would prefer for it not to open in a new window, though I have tested it since and that does solve the problem. Is there any way to make it work inside the slide instead?
Thanks!
Hi Brandon,
Since the website isn't allowing the user to enter information while inside a Storyline web object frame, but it's working when you launch it as a new window - that sounds more like a setting within the website. You could confirm this by inserting a test web object such as a Google doc/form where the user would be prompted to enter information.
Hello Ashley,
I recieved the following response from the website:
"We have sent your recent iFrame embedding question to our Content Development Team for review. Their reply is that new technologies used for the new quiz interface are not working very well with the old technologies like iframes and it is a browser security to avoid crossdomain scripting in Jquery."
I'm guessing this means it is on their end. I think I will just have it open in a new window since this works.
Thanks!
Looks to be the case Brandon! Go with the new window option - and you may just want to include a prompt for users to let them know that they'll need to close that window to return to the cousre.
