Item triggers don't work when revisiting Menu slide

I have a menu slide with 9 items on it. Users are to select each number one at a time, which takes them through a group of slides. At the end they are returned to the Menu slide, where they are to select the next number.
When I preview the slide all numbers work, but when I preview the entire course, once you select #1 and return, no other numbers work (not even the hover).
This was not my creation and I'm trying to diagnose the problem. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated . . .

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing with your project file.
It sounds like something may be happening with your triggers, which can be hard to diagnose without seeing the project.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your .story project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
