Javascript help for print/download notes
Oct 05, 2020
Hi all! I have three slides with text input where I want learners to type in their reflections. Then a final slide will show all of their text inputs, and the learner will have the option to download or print their notes. I followed this youtube tutorial, but I can't make the javascript work. When I publish the course in Storm cloud, clicking the print button results in a blank browser page. I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at what I have so far. Or, if you can send me some other resources, I'd be grateful! I'm open to any solution that would allow a function where learners can somehow keep their reflections (email, pdf download, print, etc.).
Thank you in advance,
Jackie

Hi Jaclyn, there were a couple of problems in the JavaScript, 1) A date variable was being used, but was not defined. I've added a JavaScript function to define this for you and 2) A variable called usernotes was being used but was not defined. I removed it from the print out.
Hi Sam,
Thank you so, so much for your help. This is my first go at Javascript, so I didn't know what to look for. What you said made sense to me. I tested your version in SCORM cloud, and it worked great. There is still one problem, though. When I click on the print button on the output document, nothing happens. Should a printer dialogue box pop up? Many thanks in advance!

Update: This works in Firefox and Microsoft Edge, just not in Chrome. Any ideas?
Hi Jaclyn, I think that must be something related to your browser as it works fine in chrome for me. Also, there are no two ways to trigger the print dialogue, and since it works for Firefox and Edge it shows it is working.
I'm wondering what could be stopping it working in your instance as I think even without a printer installed Chrome will still have some format it could print to to save locally. Are you trying to print from locally published, or from Review 360? Try from Review 360 if not already.
Hi Sam,
Thank you for telling me about Review 360. I didn't even know that existed. I tried it though and had the same results. I also had two other people check it on their Chrome browsers; they had the same results. I tried clearing my cache and disabling pop up blockers. I'm not sure what it could be.
