JAWS reading the Default Player buttons twice

Aug 01, 2018

Hello there,

Need help on JAWS thing which we are using to make course section 508 compliant.

We are using a default player. When we test the course for JAWS, the Player navigation buttons (Menu, Notes, Exit etc.)  are getting read twice.

It should be reading the button text and alt text which is why it is getting read twice. We tried to search an option to remove the Alt text for player buttons, however can not see the option.

Please can someone suggest how to deal with this. Either with solution for the issue or to remove the alt text of default player buttons.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Kathy,

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know that you are running into the same issue.

This is still open with our team and as Alyssa mentioned above, we do have this conversation flagged so that we can pop in and update you here.

I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.

Team,

I am facing the same issue with the Web objects integrated in the Storyline package, buttons are getting read twice.

Firstly it reads the name of that particular element after that it reads the name along with the action perform on that element like button.

I am using IE 11 for testing and Jaws reader 2019.

Please Help.

Hello Malkeet,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are running into with your course.

This sounds a bit different than what was shared above.
