JAWS Support not working

Oct 09, 2019

Hello all,

I've created a project which uses Storyline 3 to navigate around a series of videos, creating an interactive narrative. It basically uses slides with 2-3 hotspots over a background image for the user to choose their option. In the accessibility dialogue box, I have written what I'd like screen readers to read out for each hot spot, and this works on my android device.

However JAWS is not reading anything out at all. You can view it here, currently, only the first, DSA module has been changed to incorporate screen reader support. www.dmuthrive.uk

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan!

I tried tabbing through the course and only a few of the elements were highlighted. This could be the reason JAWS isn't reading the course.

JAWS reads by tab order and by paragraph. It looks like you have screenshots on each slide. In that case, I would recommend adding alternative text to each image.

JAWS will read the alternative text when a user tabs through your course.

Let me know if you still have any questions!

Hi there, Dan!

Thanks for those additional details. Ah, I'm also finding that JAWS is not catching the hotspot's alternative text when tabbing through your published output.

Are you able to share your .story file with me, so that I can do some further testing? You can add it as an attachment right to your reply or send it privately here. I'll delete it after taking a thorough look!
