Jump to next slide stuttering

Jun 20, 2014

Hi all,

When executing a jump to next slide on timeline start, there is a slight delay where you can briefly (around half second) see the slide being skipped. I am using Scorm Cloud, but this also happens within Storyline's Preview engine.

Is there any way we can prevent the skipped slide from being briefly visible?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Just curious - why are you loading a slide and then skipping it? You could skip around the slide entirely by modifying the "Jump to" trigger on the previous slide.

Are you triggering something else on the slide besides the timeline jump?

If you could share a little more detail on what you'd like to accomplish with that slide, perhaps we could recommend an alternative that wouldn't result in the small delay.

Thanks!

There are a few reasons to jump to a slide and then over it, it will however be briefly visible this is mainly because the timeline start trigger does not fire until you the slide actually starts, there are a couple of things that can make it less visible.

Transitions for the slide with the trigger will prevent the trigger starting until the transition ends and a transition on the slide yu jump to will mean the previous slide is also visible whilst the transition takes place.

Finally I would try and make it less obvious by designing the slide to match the slide it jumps to.

Thanks for the responses, and to Phil for your suggestions. I am using basic skip logic (skip a question based on the previous question's response).

I have an idea based on Phil's suggestion. I'm going to try to add a layer to the question potentially being skipped that displays a blank slide until the decision to show or skip the slide happens. Or I may put the question on a layer that shows if the question is not skipped.

I'll update the thread once I have something working.
