Jump to scenes repeatedly

Aug 19, 2014

Hi,

I'm having a problem with multiple scenes in a project. I want children to solve a bunch of math exercises. The original story file is a drag & drop. In the attached file I only inserted several scenes, buttons and triggers to explain the problem.

This is the situation. The children start with the first slide. When they click the question mark (they are advised to do so), they get more explanation about how the exercise works. They can return to the previous scene with the arrow. In the next step, they will press the button 'kladblad' (scrap sheet) to solve the exercises. When they want to return to the previous scene (where they should drag & drop the correct letters to the numbers), this does not work.

You could say I should delete the scrap sheet and put the text entries on the main slide, but this does not work in the complete exercise, where every drag & drop is put on a different slide, to be able to give a score at the end of the exercise. And I want the children to be able to return to the text entries to correct any mistakes, which is not possible in a linear approach.

The only thing I thought of to solve this problem, is to change the help scene into a layer... Is there any way to avoid this extra work?

Thanks in advance,

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for sharing your file here. I played around with it, and it seems to be that the "jump to previous scene" trigger doesn't work the second time you try to use the button. I saw this behavior while using the button on Scene 2 and Scene 3, going in the direction you initially mentioned and also going right to the scene 2 slide, and then to the help slide. I looked and found that this has been reported to our QA team in regards to the "jump to scene trigger" not working after the second click, so I'll add this thread to that existing QA report so that they're aware it's impacted another user. As a workaround, you could use the layer to show the help information or include it as a part of a player tab so that it's always accessible to the user. The other option would be to not use the "previous scene" trigger but determine which path/order you'd like the users to proceed in.

I'll post here if there is any additional information to offer from our QA team, but at this point I don't have a timeframe to offer in regards to a fix.
