Jumping Characters . . .

Good afternoon!
I am working on a project where the user selects a "guide" to direct them through the content. I have set up a True/False variable for each guide. The issue is, when the user goes to a slide where the characters are located, there is a delay of a quarter second before the selected character appears. How do I get around this?
I have attached a sample of what I am working on. Thanks!

Hi Mary,
I tested your file, and clicking on a character brought me directly to slide two without a delay in showing the character. I recorded a quick video showing the behavior. You'll also want to check the variable trigger you set up to check the user's name field, as you'll see I entered my name but it gave me the error message.
Ashley - thanks for checking this out.
And I fixed the variable issue.
Thanks again!
Mary
Happy to help Mary!
Hi Mary, just like Ashley, I didn't see the you reported either. I did however notice that when you select a character, then go back and change your mind, the characters start overlapping (see below). I don't know if this only happens in the test file you uploaded. Rather than turning the state of the different characters to Normal on each slide, I would set up one character object with the different characters being states of that object. This way, you simplify your slides' timeline a bit and only deal with one object and its states to show the selected character. Just a suggestion...
Good catch Michael, as I didn't go back to try and select a different character!
