Jumping to next slide on completion of a variable

May 13, 2020

Hi,  I have tried to do this before, but have been unsuccessful.  My project team are still asking if I can make this happen.  Basically, I need learners to type information into a text entry field which on completion would produce the next slide.

At the moment, I get them to click enter, or another button, but this is not how the system works, and it is confusing people.  Is there anything else I can do to make this flow better?

I have added a demo file to show you what I need to do.  Basically I need slide 2 to show when the learner has typed Para into the text entry field on slide 1.

Thank you for your help.  Regards Linda

Hi Linda,

Thanks for reaching out! The value of the text-entry won't actually be set until the text-entry box loses focus, meaning there's not a way to type a value and have a trigger to jump to the next slide until the Enter or other button is clicked.

My teammate Ashley has an excellent explainer video on how the text entry works:

Take a look and see if her simple example helps your scenario out!

Hi Ren,

Thank you for this, I have had a look at this video a few times and I don't think it is going to work for my scenarios as they are characters that the user might type in upper or lower case, so I can't see how we could set the variable value. I think trigger actions have changed since that video as well, but the principle makes sense.

No worries, thank you for your help, kind regards, Linda
