Keeping captions on screen after audio ends
Nov 22, 2017
Hi,
Using the built in caption editor, is there a way to keep captions on screen after the audio ends?
The last caption segment for the slide is pulled all the way to the end of the audio in the editor, and I would like it to stay on screen after the audio is over. If someone is a slow reader, or looks away for a minute, I don't want them to miss the caption. It now disappears as soon as the audio finishes.
I have the latest version of Storyline 360, and am using the caption editor.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Karen

Hi Dawana,
Thanks for the suggestion, and yes, I have the caption dragged all the way to the right, as far as possible in the Closed Captions Editor. Even so, the caption disappears when the audio ends.
I hope there is an easy way to keep the caption on screen. We can't use the built in CC feature otherwise.

Hi Karen,
Aside from extending the caption all the way to the end of the audio clip, the learner could also click the pause button in the player to pause the slide and read the caption text.
I can definitely understand why you might want to have the option to keep the caption text on the screen after the audio ends, and that would make an excellent feature request. Could you share your idea with our product team by clicking here? Thanks for reaching out!
Hi Alyssa,
Thanks for letting me know that it is working as expected.
I will submit a feature request, to see if in the future, it would be possible to keep the caption on screen when the audio finishes. Thank you for the suggestion.

I appreciate you taking the time to submit the request, Karen! We're continuously exploring new features and customer input is extremely valuable in that process, so thank you! 🙂
