Keeping drag items from covering one another.

Aug 25, 2014

Yesterday I asked and received some greats support on a project -- thanks! Today I'm looking for a few more insights. The illustration below shows the screen. It's a grad planning report that allows students to drag course object to various locations as they plan out their college program. The table cells are individual objects connected to appear as a table. The course objects along each side can be dragged to various cells where they snap into place leading to a curriculum plan. This is set up with out freeform and with state changes tied to each drag object setting them to correct responses.

My question today is how to set up the drop cells such that no more than one drag object can be placed in each cell. There are 48 individual cells (the longer ones). Any insight is appreciated.

I think the only way to get one item in each drop target is to use freeform (although you could probably set a drop target to disabled once an object is dropped on it.

I did see your previous post and thought this answer would conflict with your current set up.

I often use a freeform question type to do this sort of thing, you can set triggers to do state changes, and as long as each drop target is defined somewhere then they can be used.

Sorry I am late to the party, but i would have stuck with the freeform question type as you get more options
