Laptop Specs

Apr 15, 2020

So I’ll be looking into a new computer soon and wanted to get ideas on what to look for and what to stay away from.

I want an iMac (21.5’’) but I’m worried the specs I’m looking at are not enough:

6th core 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor

     8GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory

     Radeon Pro 560x

    1TB fusion drive

i need something to handle SL360, plus other applications like camtasia, adobe products (as I am a photographer on the side).

Any tips/ideas to look out for would be great.

So much of the specs for a computer are a foreign language to me

Hello. I'm a Mac user and want to get a PC for using Storyline. I was looking at a laptop with these specs and am not sure what the GHz numbers mean. I see that Storyline's minimum is 2GHz. Will this work? Is 24GB memory excessive?

8th Gen Intel Core i5-8265U Quad-Core Processor (1.60 GHz Up To 3.9GHz 6MB Cache), 24GB DDR4 Memory, 256GB SSD

Hello Jeannie,

Good questions. I'm happy to add more context and will leave the floor to the community to share their thoughts!

Gigahertz (GHz) is used to measure the central processing unit (CPU) speed. Here's a neat third-party article on the topic:

We recommend hardware with a 2 gigabytes (GB) minimum for memory when authoring in Storyline 360, so 24 GB is great—especially if you have a lot of files/media.

Let us know if there's anything else we can answer!
