I am super frustrated. Just got Storyline 360 and when I create layers random images from the base layer appear on my other layers even though I have verified that they are checked not visible on the timeline! The other issue is that my slide layer isn't even appearing when I click on the trigger...What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for popping back in to share your .story file so that we could take a look.
Would you be able to share the steps to replicate or perhaps a Peek recording to demonstrate what you are seeing? I'm not seeing any overlap when previewing your project.
On my base layer, I have a hotspot. If you click outside the hotspot, a layer with feedback will appear.
If you click on the hotspot, a different layer with instructions of what to do next will appear, however, if you click anywhere on this layer, the layer with feedback will appear.
I've made sure to check the "Hide other slide layers" and "Prevent the user from clicking on the base layer" options. I've also tried a transparent square and setting it to disabled, and I still get the same issue.
So the problem is actually that I can't get the layers to actually show. I have attached the file again. (after I cleaned it up) now if you click on the bubbles around his head you just get a blank slide with a black line (from the base layer) on the bottom.
It's so strange because I have worked with layers before in 360 but this interaction is just giving me so much trouble.
I downloaded your copy and the same issue still occurs. When I click on the hotspot, I get the 'correct' layer. However, if I click outside of the hotspot on the 'correct' layer, the 'incorrect' layer appears on top of that layer still (which I don't want to happen).
Hi Victoria, thanks for bringing this up. We're seeing the same thing. In HTML5, the trigger event "when clicking outside an object" on the base layer will fire even if you are not on the base layer. Our team is digging into this issue, and I'll let you know if I get any more information on it.
In the meantime, you could place a larger "incorrect" hotspot over the entire slide, and put the correct hotspot on top. Instead of a "click outside" trigger on the correct hotspot, use a "clicks on" trigger on the incorrect hotspot.
Thanks again for letting us know what's going on, and I'm sorry if it has been causing you frustration!
Hi there, Becky! I apologize that we didn't update this discussion. We discussed two issues here. Cailin's issue was resolved in a case and was specific to their file and a group of objects.
Victoria's issue was identified as a bug: In HTML5, the trigger event "when clicking outside an object" on the base layer will fire even if you are not on the base layer.
We fixed this bug in update 9 of Storyline 360. Let me know what you're seeing in your file and what version of Storyline you're using. We'll be happy to help!

Hello Cailin and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

I have a similar issue, except in Storyline 3.

Any idea why this is happening?

Hi Cailin!
Well, the good/bad news is that it's not you - it's got me stumped as well as to why this isn't working correctly.
I've opened up a case on your behalf so that one of our support engineers can take a look and see what may be going on.
You should hear from someone soon via e-mail.
Hi Victoria and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Sorry to hear that you've run into an issue as well.
Do you have a .story file that we could take a look at?
Thank god I am not crazy Leslie! Thank you! I appreciate your time!
Thanks Leslie. :)
And yes, here it is.
Hi Victoria
you had the prevent user from clicking on baselayer selected on the layers.I removed the tick and it appears to be working as expected

Hello again!
Just wanted to check in to see if there are any updates on this issue.
Thanks!
Hi Victoria!
I do not have an update to provide at this time. I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.
This one has been prioritized and we'll be sure to pop in here with an update when we can.
Has this issue been resolved? thanks.
