Layer on Master Slide shows objects hidden by another layers
May 28, 2020
Hello,
I have some layers on my master slide, like menu or contact info, that are set to don't hide other slide layers. I basically put them on top of slide or another layers when user click button.
However I've noticed (and I'm pretty sure it's some new case, as I've been using master slide layers for really long time and didn't see that, or maybe I've just been lucky) that when I have Layer A on my normal slide and I hide something from base layer using 'eye' icon, and then try to 'invoke' layer from master slide, the hidden obejct unhids.
I think that's quite unwanted behavior? Because you cannot control that in any way and makes using hiding 'eye' icon useless.

Yes, I'd say that is unwanted behavior as the feature of hiding the objects when showing the slide layer I would have thought should be retained. I would recommend you log this as a case, as I think it is unexpected/unwanted behaviour. Will be interested to follow this one.
Hi Mateusz,
I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue with slide master layers! It looks like you're running into this bug we have reported where:
Hidden base layer objects appear on the slide layer when the Slide Master layer is also open.
Hi Mateusz,
Please find the attached. I've try to revised your file.
If you don't want to show everything at your base slide, just cut and copy your base layer content to "new layer" than add the trigger: show new_layer when the timeline starts on this slide" to your base slide.
Hope this help. Thanks.
Hello Ren,
how is fixing this bug going? That's really serious issue for many of my courses, as I often use master slide layers to design some menu, navigation or 'remember' things available across the whole course. Now I'm just using high concentration of 'change state to hidden', but it gives my additional work, and I'm kinda lazy :)))
Hi Mateusz,
I appreciate the honesty, but I also understand the additional work it's taking you to work around this bug!
Hi Ren,
Well, that's some unfortunate news. Being curious - have the team ever thought about 'bug tracker' to people with voting mechanism? Like uservoice for eg. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/908686-bug-reports Microsoft Teams? Listening to own community regarding bugfixes could give you a nice picture what's the most crucial fix for the users and what should be handled in the first place :) just an idea.
As for Maijon reply - I appreciate, but that's another workaround and simply I would need to make every slide possible on layers and stop using base layer. Which for many reasons is not a good choice. I will stick to change state to hidden ;)
I like the idea of there being transparency on current bugs and the community having more influence.
