Layer timing problem

Hello all,

I've got a slide where I want users to click on a series of boxes that will reveal text. They cannot proceed with the training unless they view all the revealed text. I have a variable set up that if they press next without looking at everything I want them to they recieve a message telling them they must view everything before proceeding. The problem is that the Hint Caption layer seems to operate on a timer and appears after 4 seconds or so with the user having done nothing. I can't seem to find a trigger that would account for this. I've created a file with only the troublesome slide in it. Can someone take a look and tell me what I'm missing? It would be greatly appreciated.
