Layer Triggers not working on master layout?

Oct 21, 2014

Hi everyone.

I have a course where, on my master slide layout, there is a "Menu" layer that pops up. Each menu item is a button whose default state is "Disabled", and when the layer begins, if the variable "Milestone0X" has been set to true, the corresponding menu item state changes to "Normal". (You can look at the screenshot I am attaching below, I think it shows everything I'm talking about.)

My problem is that, for some reason, the menu items are not changing to Normal. What's baffling is that I did a course just a couple of weeks ago where I actually used the same template, and it worked perfectly. This new course is actually built using the same navigation masters. But this one does not work.

I have pretty much ruled out the possibility that the variable is not getting changed -- I tried removing the condition, and the menu item still did not change. For some reason my layer triggers are not firing at all.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

OK! I’ve figured out that the triggersare broken because I have checked the “Hide background graphics”option on the “background” tab.

I checked this option because if you have it unchecked, the header and footer from the base layer will animate inwith the menu layer. Instead I will just take the “flyin” animation off of the layer itself and put it on the menu graphics instead.

I’m not sure why the "hide background graphics" option affects the layer triggers? This doesn't seem to make sense, but at least there's a simple solution.
