Hi Astrid,

It really depends on what you'd like to do with the layers. Anytime you need to figure something out, just ask here. The community here is awesome and always happy to share suggestions or help walk you through the process of working in Storyline.

As for the tutorials, they're also pretty specific. However, there are a ton of forum posts out there that may be able to help you as well, if you're looking to do something specific.

I believe you've already seen this tutorial:

Articulate Products > Tutorials > Adding and Editing Slide Layers

There's another tutorial I think you may enjoy (it is short, but may come in handy):

Articulate Products > Tutorials > Working with States, Triggers, and Layers

Again, if there's anything you'd like to learn about - just ask! We're here to help.

I'm afraid I don't have any resources available for free characters, but maybe some of our community members can suggest a few for you.

LOLO You are right Christine.!I do have the tendency to speak like my audience will know what I mean. OK: As you may know Camtasia allows you to record and do  webcasts. And,  articulate as well. Now, lets say that I have a video in Camtasia which  explains in PPT step by step some procedure. And, instead of doing it all in articulate I can simple import that webcast into my articulate class.

If I do do not explain  myself, I will try again! Sorry about that Christine...

PS: I hope you can open the attachment. It shows you what Camtasia does. Otherwise, is not important

Thanks again!

Hi Astrid,

No problem! I just want to make sure I totally understand.

I haven't worked in Camtasia, so I'm not exactly sure what type of file the actual webcasts create. I'm afraid I won't be able to download the .EXE file you attached to the thread. Are they normally .EXE files, or do they save as video files, similar to screen recordings? If so, you could insert them as videos. However, if there's interactions I'm not entirely sure that will work properly once its been imported.

@ Astrid - If I've understood your situation correctly :

1. You have a screen capture (I'm guessing this is what you meant by webcast, as neither Storyline nor Camtasia actually facilitate webcasts to my knowledge) that you created using Camtasia.

2. You would like to import #1 into a Storyline course that you've created.

If that is the case, then I recommend publishing your Camtasia project as an mp4, and save it to your hard drive. Then in Storyline, go Insert > Video > From FIle. Browse your hard drive and locate your saved mp4 file.

Unless you have some flash based interactive elements built into your Camtasia project that users need to interact with, in which case you'd want to host the camtasia files and then import the link to the play file as a Web Object.
