Layers not working properly

Dec 02, 2015

Hi,

I've created a slide that allows learners to check their knowledge. I did not use the quiz capabilities, I created this from scratch.

On the base layer are four topics. When the learner clicks on a topic they are taken to a specific layer. When the user clicks on the Submit button on each topic layer, they are taken to a topic-specific correct/incorrect feedback layer. When the topic-specific Incorrect layer is shown, the user clicks the "Try Again" button and is returned to the topic layer. That seems to work fine.

When the topic-specific Correct layer is shown, the learner should click on the "Return" button and return to the base layer. At that point, the state of the topic text box is changed to show a check mark next to it indicating that the learner has finished that topic. But when I hide the Correct layer, the base layer isn't showing, the topic layer is.

I've included a .story file of just this slide with all of its layers. You only really need to test the first topic to see what's happening. To test for the Correct layer, choose the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th check boxes.

I appreciate any help you can give me. I feel like I've tried everything.

Regards,

Gail

Hello Gail,

I like the way you have built your interaction.

The problem you're running into is that for your correct/incorrect feedback layers you've deselected the option to hide other layers, which works because for an incorrect response you still want the topic layer to be open.

For your correct response layers, you need to add an additional trigger to your "Return" button, just before the one that hides the correct response layer, telling it to hide the topic layer.

This will result in both the topic layer and correct answer layer hiding when you go back to your base slide.

I've attached your .story file where I've done this for the "SHCorrect" slide layer.  Check it out.
