Leading slide in Navigation

Mar 24, 2017

I'm working on a SL file someone else created, with 25+ scenes and about 70+ slides total, and it jumps all over the place.  I am unable to determine what slide leads to #19, and wish to avoid taking the hour-long course just so I can see what slide precedes #19 (it's not #18, that would be too easy!).  The creator of this file occasionally built the triggers with "next" as opposed to specifying the slide, so that's really complicating things.  I'm beginning to think that there is no trigger to #19 and it should be removed.  Any thoughts on how to determine the navigation map?

Hi Sharon!  That's quite a mystery you've got there, and lots of slides to go through.  Is #19 in a scene with other slides, or does it stand alone?  Are you able to share your .story here for us to have a look?

Typically, you'll see a few different things in Story view:

  • Red lines showing triggered navigation of the selected slide.  If you hover over these lines, they'll tell you where the current slide will bring you based on triggers.
  • Gray lines showing the navigation of the rest of the slides.
  • Link icons allowing you to right-click and create a trigger to branch that slide to another scene or slide.

Some sort of arrow would be pointing to this slide if another slide was triggered to navigate to it.  One other thing to consider is if this slide looks completely unaffiliated, it might be built as a lightbox slide for which the previous user created a trigger to show it as a lightbox in another slide or in the player.

Either way, we're happy to dissect the file with you and see what turns up!
