Lean 5S Game

Aug 25, 2015

I am looking to build or find a pre-existing game for 5S. I want my audience to be able to pick or select a group of numbers that are thrown onto the page and organize them as quickly as possible. They will need to do this at various stages until they see the best organized way of grouping the numbers.

5S is part of the LEAN Toolbox. 5S is an organizing tool:

The 5 Steps are as follows:

Sort: Sort out & separate that which is needed & not needed in the area.
Straighten: Arrange items that are needed so that they are ready & easy to use. Clearly identify locations for all items so that anyone can find them & return them once the task is completed.
Shine: Clean the workplace & equipment on a regular basis in order to maintain standards & identify defects.
Standardise: Revisit the first three of the 5S on a frequent basis and confirm the condition of the Gemba using standard procedures.
Sustain: Keep to the rules to maintain the standard & continue to improve every day.

5S Game - Basically puts out various numbers on a slide or page in different sizes, the participant has 20 secs to arrange them in proper order before moving the game forward. The Next slide puts out the same various numbers on a page in different sizes however, they are somewhat organized into sections with 20 sec for participant to arrange them in proper order before moving the game forward. Next slide puts out the same various numbers on a page in different sizes, however, they are more organized into sections and rows with 20 sec for participant to arrange them in proper order.

The point is to help them realize that the more organized the numbers the more easier to find things they are looking for, hence reducing wasted time. In the real world they would be able to find their items more quickly saving time and frustration.
