Limit Retaking Quiz, Masters Quiz Result Slide and Survey - Assistance Requested!

Hi All,

I have the following in a Storyline 360 project (please see attached):

  1. Quiz 1
  2. Quiz 2
  3. Master Quiz slide (which combines the results of Quiz 1 and 2 with a minimum passing grade of 70%).
  4. Survey consisting of 3 slides

For Quiz 1 and Quiz 2 I want the user to be able to retake the Quizzes if they score less than 70%.

I have reviewed the following tutorials/online documentation and while I found them helpful, I am still stuck in a couple areas and have questions still that have to do with the publishing aspect of it

After viewing the above documentation

I was able to do:

  1. Insert the Retry Quiz button
  2. Changed the question slide properties to Reset instead of Automatic so the user is able to enter new responses the second time around.
  3. Insert Quiz Results slide and labeled it as Master Quiz Slide to capture and display results from Quiz 1 and 2
  4. Insert Survey questions

Areas for which assistance is requested:

  1. Despite trying I am unable to get the programming correct for limiting the Retry to just once.
  2. How can I limit, the Review Quiz option to only display once the user has attempted the test/quiz for the second time if they failed the first time?
  3. Also, I would like the Next button to be disabled if the participant fails on the first try and available only after 2nd try is completed regardless if they pass or fail.
  4. When publishing to the LMS; how do I make sure ONLY results from the Master Quiz Results slide are being tabulated?
  5. How do I ensure Survey results are being captured in the published project on the LMS.

Thanks in advance for your assistance. I am attaching the Storyline Project so it is easier for you to assist me (and others who may have similar issues).  If possible detailed responses would be great. Thanks.

Hello Nom!

Thanks for sharing your project file so that I could take a look. Looks like you've done a great job with your initial set-up, so lets see if I can help you out here.

*All details can be found via the triggers panel in the attached course.

1. I would advise utilizing two different variables for Scene 1 and 2 - this way they are not working against each other and you can allow 1 extra attempt per quiz. The retry button settings can be based on these same variables.

2. I used the same attempt variable to adjust the 'Review Quiz' button as well. The slide properties had to be adjusted to Automatically Decide as setting it to 'Reset to Initial State' affects the display of the Review results slides.

3. The Next button visibility can be controlled with the same variables as well.

4. When you publish your course to the LMS, you will set the tracking in your Publish Options. It looks like you have this set for 3.1, which is the cumulative results of results in your course.

5. This is the tricky one. Tracking multiple quiz scores in the same course isn't supported. However, you may be able to track more than one SCO (shareable content object) in a single course using one of the unsupported methods in this article.
