Unfortunately, Storyline does not seem to have the line spacing options for Master Layout, text placeholder. Is there a way to layout the text in Storyline?
Line spacing, unfortunately, is one of the things that Storyline doesn't have a lot of flexibility with. You can set it at 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3 and that's it. There is no way to set up any custom line spacing (leading).
In general I find text handling to be the Achilles' Heel of Storyline. I would encourage you to submit a feature request for this. And let me add a couple others to the list...
Ability to set custom paragraph spacing
Ability to set proper tabs and margins
Ability to customize bullets and numbering
Hyphenation
Ability to use full character sets, e.g., em dash, en dash
Smart quotes
Tables
Having these capabilities would greatly add to the professionalism of projects.
That is a very good question. I don't import much from PPT to SL so I'm not an expert here. But I've found that when I have imported slides with different line spacing (e.g. 1.25) that they sometimes come in correctly. Then I've had mixed results when trying to edit any of these imported slides in SL. Sometimes it seems to work and other times the spacing jumps to one of the defaults in SL. It seems very unpredictable, in my experience. I haven't tried just pasting text out of PPT directly into SL. I'd be curious to hear how that works for you.
While the text handling in SL leaves me unsatisfied I begrudingly overlook it for now because of all of the other great things I can do with application. I'm really, really hoping (expecting!) that the next update to SL takes care of these annoying text issues.
I'm glad Brett was able to point you in the right direction here, and as he mentioned importing from PPT into Storyline can have mixed results as it's not a one to one conversion. If you'd like to join him in his feature request, that's the best route to go so that our development team is aware of our users needs and we're able to track how many request there are for a particular feature.

Climbing off my soap box now...
Thanks, Brett!
Follow-On Q: IF I bothered to set this up in PPT, per the tutorial, would the spacing be correct if imported in? If copied/pasted in?
Thanks!
Yvette
