link each file between storyline

Jan 24, 2013

Hi support team

Can I ask you to help me look at this complicated question that I want to create the main menu page that has 3 section buttons represented 3 big file of articulate storyline putting in the same folder (the reason that I cannot put in the same storyline line file because there are more than 400 slides that storyline cannot publish enough). I ever try to link it, the link is work in my computer but cannot work when I send to another computer because link file name has changed so it's cannot link to that specific file in that folder.

Do you have the way to solve this problem or not?

Thanks very much

Hi Nutpaphat,

From our previous conversation you mentioned that you'd need to view the content locally. I'm not sure if you're going to be able to do this without hosting the courses on a web server or LMS.

If you don't mind me asking, are you required to run the content locally? It just seems like this is going to be a bit complicated if you need to do so. I'm not sure if you're working with a company with access to a web server, but this really would be your best bet for linking to other courses.

Thanks!

For about this issue my question is

I want to create the 1 main menu page that has 3 section buttons that link to 3 separated file of articulate storyline publish and putting in the same folder (the reason that I cannot put all slide in 1 storyline line file because there are more than 400 slides that storyline cannot publish enough so I separate them to 3 files and 1 file for main menu page ). I ever try to create trigger in 3 buttons in main menu page to jump to file that I separate it, it works only in my computer but cannot work when I send to another computer because file that i set jump in trigger can open in my computer's drive only it's cannot open to that specific file when I sent to another computer.

Do you have the way to solve this problem that I can send this folder to another computer  when I click 3 buttons to jump the separate file that I already set? Or if you have anyone of your team to know this?

Thank a lot

Hi again Nutpaphat

Sorry again about the thread confusion.

Per our previous discussion (even though it's a different issue), working with local files is a bit difficult. I'm not sure you'll be able to do that with local courses, even if they're in the same folder. The only thing I can think that may work is to publish them into the same folder, but rename the story.html to something else and insert them as web objects. When you link to the web object, you'd point to the HTML file in the folder. You'd have to be sure to keep them all together, I'd assume, so the main course can continue to refer to those HTML files. I haven't tested this, but I'm actually curious if this would work.

If you're able to try this out, let me know. Maybe I can take a look later today, as well.

Thanks!
