Link new menu items to the slide or make it not clickable

Feb 28, 2018

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your attention.

I am using Storyline to create a demo as a part of our online course project. Following the instructions in the forum, I am able to customize my menu in the player and I added new menu items just to visually organize the content.

However, when I clicked on those new menu items in preview, for example, the "Start with the existing data" one, instead of showing the slide that is under that item, it jumped back to the Table of Contents page. Is it possible for me to link this new menu item to the slide of "Find input and output variables", or simply make it not clickable?

Please see the attached document my customized menu.

Hi Xinru.  Thanks for the screenshot.  We found an issue with custom headings where instead of jumping to the first slide under the heading, the course jumps to the next slide from where you leave off.

For example, in your project, if you are on the Preparation slide, and you then click to the Start with the existing data heading, you will land on the Objectives slide instead.  Is that what you're seeing too?

We're investigating this issue currently, and I'll tag your post to be updated.  The only workaround we've discovered is to break your slides into different Scenes instead of using custom headings.

Hi Xinru,

We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes and enhanced features that you'll see in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is how clicking a custom section header in the menu didn't jump to the first slide in that section has now been fixed.

The first step is to update Storyline 360. Head over to the desktop app and click the "Update" button for Storyline. More details here.
