Bear in mind that treating strings of text as objects sometimes results in strange behaviour, i.e triggers and conditions don't always work as expected. When this happens I place a 99% transparent shape over the text and assign the trigger(s) to that.
Make sure you have no other triggers on the link you created in the Triggers window. This has happened to me a couple of times.
You can click the link on the screen and delete it. If you see more than one Trigger change to Unassigned, they you have more than one trigger on that object.
Do a CTRL+Z (undo) to put the link item back on the screen and adjust triggers as needed.

I have added a trigger to the word and it is all set properly but it just doesn't want to go to the right layer, I will try both sugestions.
